    Problem installing/running 7

    Hi guys,

Im having some serious problems getting windows 7 to work. I've lost count on how many times I've tried so far, and I'm having no luck.
Basically, my problem lies after installation. Everything (seemingly) installs fine. Windows sets up my desktop, and everything looks great. But, when I try installing drivers for certain things (windows updates, graphics card drivers, sound drivers etc) and the PC needs the required reboot afterwards, upon reboot, it begins a startup repair...
I let the automatic repair run, but to no avail. Each time it will say it is unable to repair this "problem". I'm not too sure if it is the operating system, or if it is a hardware issue. Ive tried installing on 2 different Hard drives, and had the same result. I also re-installed Windows XP, and that has no problems whatsoever, but I dont want to stick with this, or i would'nt of spent all that money on Windows 7. I know that all my PC componants are Windows 7 compatible.
Has anyone else had this kind of issue before? Or does anyone know of a simple soloution? I would really appreciate your feedback.

    Regards

    Dean

Hello kujaeast, welcome to seven Forums!

Are you installing needed drivers as viewed in device manager as Windows 7 is pretty much driver complete and are you sure you have the correct (32-bit/64-bit) drivers you are trying to install?

    A couple other ideas.

If the Windows 7 install disk is one you burned yourself it may be a bad burn and needs to be done again, if so this would be the first thing to try.

Use the free ISO burner at the link below to burn another at a speed of now more than 4x and select to let the program to verify the disk before it finishes.

Maybe there's some old code on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) that is causing issues, after you have made backups of anything you would not want to lose run a wipe (secure erase) to the HDD, have a look at this tutorial at the link below for an out-line of the procedure.

Upon reinstalling with confirmed DVD and to wiped HD, control what, and how you install each, driver missing in Device manager, windows update and programs.

Install them one at a time, with Restore point set before each. When problem occurs, try to System Restore. If this fails, then you at least know what driver (likely, update or program is causing the conflict. You can then open a Support case on WUD website, or with Device or Program maker.

It sounds like you might be swapping out installed drivers, which is not necessary with Win7. Use the drivers in the installer and quickly updated via Optional Windows Update. Only supply ones missing in Device Manager - one at a time - from the Support Downloads webpage for your computer or Device model.
