    Looks like you'll have to delete all partitions and reinstall windows 7. Of course the windows 7 dvd wont be able to detect the partitions (as you said).

    Boot from Linux Live CD, go to System>Administration>Disk Utility.

    Now on the left side, select your Hard Disk.

    Then click on Format Volume. From the dropdown menu, select GUID partition.

    Once the drive is formatted, boot into the Win7 DVD and see if it lets you format the partition and install windows on it.

    If the above method fails, then repeat the same steps but this time from the dropdown menu, select Dont Partition.

    hi, dinesh , you have tell me 3 commands of which 1st and 3rd run successfully.
    now i boot then there is no option of booting ubuntu, but there is option to boot windows which is same as before and is not working.

    did you install ubuntu with wubi along side windows or straight from a live distro ?

    i install it using ubuntu dvd without wubi.

    ah that's a shame its simpler to remove that's all. can you not get into windows to boot whatsoever, is it the grub boot menu that controls boot up? and ubuntu is on the same drive as windows?
