Windows 7: Windows 7 Installation Issue

Windows 7 Installation Issue

I have on numerous occasions attempted to install a version of 7 on my Amd machine.

Processor Amd 5000x2
Motherboard Asus M2N-VM Hdmi
Ram 4GB
Hard Drives 4 x 1tb ( Now removed)
1 x 500gb (System Drive)

The motherboard has inbuilt graphics of the Geforce 7050PV variety. The motherboard chipset is Nforce 630a.

The installation gets past the stage where you enter your user details. This installation either hangs or it blue screens. Using Windows 7 RC and one of the previous builds had the same issue.

I was wondering if any users of this forum have managed to get this or a similar bunch of components working with Windows 7.

I also have a Intel Quad Core system which has no installation issues whatsoever.

Any possible solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey welcome to SF. Are you installing from the same image on both machines? Did you do a clean install on both? More info please.

I had used the same installation dvd's on all occasions for both machines. These discs were burned numerous times at various speeds because of the likelihood of a burning error. I have both 32 and 64 Bit iso's stored on a hard drive.

Hey,
I have had the exactly same problem. I have tried many times with different CDs, both 32 bit and 64 bit. I have also tried on a virtual PC using again 32 bit and 64 bit.

I just get a blue screen error, or something not found error.

I have downloaded it many times, so I made sure it was no corrupt.

Any help would be wonderful.

cheers,
Logetik

This has not happen to me but I have seen this on this forum. Try taking out half of your ram or even down to 1gb , if it installs then stick the ram back in and rerun wei. good luck to you. lm

Cheers, will give it go and see what happens.

Tried the suggestion with the memory, all it results in is the machine rebooting, going to the safe mode screen. Then again constantly rebooting.

I am looking at building a new machine a few months down the line, and it looks like I will avoid a AMD Platform due to the issues I am having with Windows 7. It seems like the Nforce chipset is causing the problem.

Will check carefully to ensure compatibility of Intel Board and Processor with Windows 7 later in the year. The mentioned amd machine I am going to convert into a Windows Home Server for my Film and TV Series DVD's but will have to ensure their are no further issues with a server build.

I'd agree with the removal of RAM suggestion, you might ahve some bad sticks. Also, try installing from a USB thumb drive. I've seen this many times where the solution was to replace the burner altogether. Also, I dont see your BUILD anywhere, this is KEY to diagnostic. More info on this plz.

USB drive installation does not work either.

No version of the windows 7 beta up to and including the RC version has worked on the Amd system. As mentioned before the Intel system I own has had no such issues with any version of the beta and RC.

I have swapped Sata DVD drives from both Desktop's but it results in the same issue.

I just feel it looks like the Geforce 7050PV and Nforce 630a combination is one that seems deemed to not work at all with Windows 7. It's a shame as Windows 7 IMO is far more usable and less resource hungry than Vista on my Intel pc.

Ok. I just ran the setup on my computer and overwrote everything on my computer to Win 7. Working fine and loving Windows 7.

Cheers.
