install win 7 from hdd
i was visiting a friend when his laptop started to play up so we decided to format it and put a fresh install of his win7 on
for what ever reason i dont know but his laptop would not install his win 7 disk so we decided the hdd had bad sectors or a problem
here is what i did
took his hdd out conected it to my laptop via a usb lead i then formated the drive then placed it back in his laptop still got the same problem
so i made a bootable usb stick (from his disk) formated his drive once again via usb
i then dragged all files from usb stick over to his hdd
placed his drive back into his laptop turned the machine on and got an option to install win 7 from hdd
i did this and installed win 7
rebooted and then had 2 options
1 install win 7 (from hdd)
2 start win 7
so now he is up and going
now i have tried this on my machine the files go to my harddrive with no problems but on boot up i get no option to install from hdd ?
his laptop is a few years old mine is a year old
so does any one know why it works on his sony laptop and not my acer 6920g
both have sata hdd
