Want to Do a Fresh Installation.

    Hello Folks,

Seems my laptop has got several problems & i guess i need to do a fresh installation. But i don't have recovery disc. I've Windows 7 Home premium x64 Genuine version. The ACER's backup utility is not working. So is there anyway to create just a system recovery image? or someother way to do a fresh installation without loosing the product key?

    1) You can create a system image with a program like Macrium but given your current problems the image will be equally buggy, so it doesnt make any point.

    2) You have 2 options. If the computer came with win7 preinstalled, you can call acer support and request for recovery disks for your model- they'll likely ship it at a small cost. Then you can restore using those disks.

The other option is to get hold of a win7 install dvd (borrow from friend or download a clean copy off the web), then do a clean install and activate by calling MS.

This tutorial will show you how to make your Acer eRecovery disks, then run eRecovery from Windows:
ACER PC Restore to factory settings

You should not run the disks unless your HD fails or eRecovery fails when run from Windows or the HD.

You can trigger eRecovery from the HD by pressing Alt + F10 at bootup.

Be sure to back up your files first.

After backing up your files, can you run factory recovery either from Acer eRecovery or by pressing Alt + F10 at bootup?

This might be a little clearer. I don't see anything here about password. Maybe it isn't needed.

Hmm...this might be the acer erecovery password. The last i remember the default password used to be 0000. Try that (unless you changed it).
