Need help with partition!!!

I just did a reformat/install of windows 7 home, i created a new partition to install the OS to(422.32 GB), after installing windows 7 to the new partition and deleting the "old installed OS" I tried to delete the partition and merge it back with my new "C" but the extend volume is greyed out and i cannot figure out how to merge the partitions back into one. Can anyone help me?

Thats because the unallocated space is at the left of C: drive, it must be on the right of and contiguous to the partition you want to extend.

Use Method 2 in this tut.

Another alternative is to use the Partition Wizard boot cd.

Now im fairly new to all of this kind of computer stuff, i currently have a 60GB SSD would it be possible to "back up" my fresh install of windows to it and then delete it from my 1TB HDD and just run off of the SSD?

I did what the tutorial said with command prompt and it told me that it did extend the selected volume but when i look at disk management i still see my 480 GB of unallocated space

Download and burn to CD free Partition Wizard.

After booting the CD, rightclick on C, choose Resize. You can now either drag the left grey border all the way to the left to take up the Unallocated Space, Or you can click and hold on C and drag it all the way over to the left so that the partition remains the same size but moves over to the left. Click OK.

Next you need to recover the System Active MBR into C since it is now booting off of the old System Reserved partition on Disk0. So rightclick again on C, choose Modify, then Set to Active. OK, Apply all Steps.

Now power down to unplug Disk0, swap its cable to Disk1 or enter BIOS setup to set Disk1 as first HD to boot (after DVD drive).

Boot the Win7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD, accept any offered repair. If it fails to start, reboot into Repair console, click through to Startup Repair to run up to 3 separate times with reboots until Win7 starts on its own: Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times

Now you can power down to plug back in old Disk0. If it still has an OS boot it using the one-time BIOS boot menu key. If not, then use free Partition Wizard to delete the 100mb SysReserved partition and recover its space into D or create a new partition there, format NTFS.

This program helped me seperate and find hidden partitions. its called easeus home edition. it shows you partitions that "my computer" doesnt.
