Windows 7: Compaq Presario F730 doesn't like 7100 x86

So I'm helping a friend set up his computer... or well... I'm trying.



Two big problems, the graphics card (GeForce Go 6150) won't update drivers. For some reason, nVidia doesn't seem to support it?

Second, it can't connect to the internet wirelessly. It detects the wireless router but can't join, despite the fact that the password is correct.

You might have to download the drivers from HP and install them.

Try resetting the settings for the wireless adaptor.

Drivers for that video card should come in-box. You SHLOULD have everything you need to maximize the potential of your video card at max rez and fps. If your looking to get the tools that come with the card, they should be available at the Nvidia site, just download the latest Vista ones, as the platforms are very simliar, you should get the same results.

I really would let Windows 7 do it's own graphics management, that's what it's designed to do.

as for your router, try taking off the password from the router completely, by unplugging and resetting it. See if Windows 7 will connect that way. It's seeing and communicating with the router, that's a bonus; now you just have to get through it to the net!

Let us know what the above does for you, and if your actually getting side effects from not having third party driver-based video

i can't install nvidia on my laptop compaq presario CQ40. I got messages 'NVIDIA setup program could not locate any driver that is compatible with your current hardware'... any idea guy

Try upgrading to 7600 RTM.

i note from the drivers they are either for intel or Ati graphics ,are you sure you have an nvidia graphics card in your laptop ?
