    Windows 7 Unallocated Space


    Hello,

    I have a big problem here and I'm very worried something very bad has happened.

    My computer start showing just a black screen after de Bios Splash Screen. Since I manage my information in two partitions one for the Windows 7 Operating System and the other for all my information I thought I could just format through the Windows 7 Install Disc my partition where Windows 7 was and Resintall Windows 7.

    Leaving my other partition normal with all my info. In fact I have done that a couple of times.

    The problem was that when Windows 7 finish installing I got an error saying "C\boot is corrupted or unreadable". It said that Windows 7 could not be installed.

    Ok, that was a problem, but the real problem came after I rebooted and wanted to try to install windows 7 again and suddenly, both my partitions are joined together and now this partition is labeled Unallocated Space.

    The problem here is where does my info go? It is ver very important information and now I don't know if I can get it back.

    Please, any help would be very appreciated.

    Hope you have access to another computer.
    Download Partition Wizard and create a bootable CD.

    Boot your computer with this CD and you'll find a Partition Recovery Wizard available to you.

    This has worked for me in the past and I wish you luck.
    I had a problem with a 'disappearing' partition for a while not long ago.
    Once your partition(s) are recovered be sure to backup everything.

    I recommend going out and buying a cheap hard drive and installing windows 7 on that. Then download recuva and see if that can find your files and recover them. A 80GB HD shouldn't cost you more than $50 these days. I certainly don't want you to reinstall Windows on your current hard drive and your important files be overwritten. If you do this, you can then use the new hard drive for your operating system and the old (current) hard drive for data, which might help prevent something like this from happening in the future.

    I hate to say this but if you have important information on your computer, why have you not backed it up? This happens so often, makes me want to cry!

    When you do get this straightened out, invest in an external hard drive and backup your OS and data partitions so you'll never again be where you are now.

    Besides the excellent idea to try to recover your partitions using free Partition Wizard CD, I would also try free Paragon Rescue CD to try to rescue both partitions and data if PW does not succeed.

    Hi,

    I get the help of a friend, he could not reconstruc the partitions, so what he did is get all my files with a software to another hard disk, the problem was that this software does not respect your directory structure or file names and there was a lot of information.

    He proceeded to use a software that compares the info recovered to the metadata in the damage harddisk and tries to reconstruct the directory structure.

    Amazingly it worked, and I should have my info back soon.
