Ok,
First I'd try a couple things before going and re-doing some of your hard work you've put in already:
Clean the disc. Try to install a fresh copy on a seperate partition, it might just not be possible to do the upgrade function, since your current Vista partition might be hosed, which is common.
Next, try re-downloading, and re-burning the ISO. Nero works best, but there are other good programs out there. Although, I would recommend the USB method overtop all else. There is alot less data-loss when you move the files to a drive, then burning to a DVD. If a large enough thumb drive isent possible for you at the moment, my second choice is a DVD-RW, it has a higher data-retention rate, becuase the data-writer can fix mistakes as it burns. It's also what M$ uses to test the DVD-burn-then-install scenerios.
Let us know how the above goes.

Not to sound rude or anything, but upgrading can bring alot of problems in the long run, best and most problem free way to get Windows 7 on your computer is indeed by fresh install. Just saves you wasting valuable time figuring out how to fix problems, and can sometimes eventually run you into a brick wall, resulting in you doing a fresh install anyways, save your time, and fresh install. | My System Specs

-D Thanks for the response, I probably should have gone into more detail, but I have tried different DVDs at different burn speeds, different ISOs (even have tried 7227 build) and I have recently tried a USB drive. All fail at the same point with the same error.
The reason I am not doing a clean install is because I don't have access to my license key for Adobe software and I wan't to maintain my Domain credentials (which I believe the transfer and settings tool does not maintain). I may try pulling one RAM stick, to put me at 2Gigs, but it really is looking like I may have to do a clean install and bite the bullet on the adobe programs. Yet, I sill need to figure out the whole Domaine/user name issue. | My System Specs

hmm, what adobe suite are you running, im pretty sure theres a program somewhere that can tell you your license key, or if your confident enough, take a dive into the registry, and if memory serves me right, somewhere in there will be a key, with your serial.
Good luck. | My System Specs

You could do that, providing you have the HDD space to do so, its an option, so dont rule it out just yet. | My System Specs
