Windows 7: Advice on installing Windows 7 on new SSD

I just purchased a crucial 256gb realssd C300 for my 2month old Lenovo x201(Win 7P 64bit, i7 640m, 8gb RAM). What is the best way to install the new SSD. I have read that a simple cloning may not be the best approach for optimal performance. Should I do a clean install by using the boot disk I made when I first got the x201 along with the recovery media disks, then reinstall all programs?

If the WD is involved you can use their excellent free Acronis cloning/imaging app to clone the old Windows 7 partition to the new SSD after initiating it in Disk Mgmt: WD Support

If this fails or isn't optimal you can try another free imaging app like Windows 7, Paragon, or Macrium Reflect. Acronis is probably better however, with more options to change size while reimaging, etc.

If these options all fail or performance isn't optimal then you can clean reinstall with the factory Recovery disks although they will restore all of the bloatware.
