BCD questions
First of all i'm gonna explain my setup which is based on multiple hardrives, main one, where OS are residing consist on a raid0 array. Currently, it has multiple partitions which are used to store Windows Vista, Windows 7 and GNU/Gentoo Linux. When the system boots, righ after the BIOS process Grub 1.x shows up as it's installed in the mbr and also in the first partition of the hardrive (raid0 array). Here i can shoose betwen the 3 installed OS. Everyone boots up with no problem and Windows installations are successfully activated.
The problem is when i first installed Windows 7 Grub was stored on another device, no the raid0 one, which we're going to call "x:" and it was the "master" hard drive, so although i installed Windows 7 on the raid0 device, which we're going to call "c:" (we could see it as a slave drive) Windows 7 boot files were stored on "x:".
So after the Windows 7 installation i took the boot files and moved them to "c:" (Windows 7 partition on the raid0 device), activated that partition and everything was ok since today when i took a look into bcd and some questions apperead.
After reading the following howto BCDEDIT - How to Use i noticed that i have no path under the main bcd configuration, the one called "Administrador the arranque de Windows" and device is setted to partition=x:. My questions are, which is the usage of the path variable under "Administrador the arranque de Windows" and what could happen if i change device partition=c: also under "Administrador the arranque de Windows". Would Windows get deactivated after commiting the mentioned changes? I would like to modify the setup so if one day "x:" drive stops working or isremoved from the PC my Windows installations can still work. I also don't understand at all which is the usage of device variable under "Administrador the arranque de Windows".
I hope someone can help, thanks in advanced :)
