Can't boot win 7 64 bit from cd

Hello, I just did a clean install of win 7 32 bit, but id like 64 bit. I have the disc, and I know I cant run it when the 32 bit OS is running. So i booted my computer from the disc by selecting boot order AND by putting CD as first to boot.

It says windows is unpacking files or something to that effect, and then it says starting windows. After that it is just a blank background of the desktop with my mouse there and nothing happens.

How do i get 64 bit installed? I'm starting to regret upgrading from XP.

Edit: I also tried changing the IDE to the AHCH ( or whatever it is i can't remember the acronym) as well as trying it on RAID/IDE settings. it all did the same thing

Hello shadw3ex, welcome to Seven Forums!

Good to see you found a solution.

If there's nothing on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) you need to save and you would like the best possible space to install 64-bit Windows 7 to and before you get too far along setting up Windows; have a look at this tutorial at the link below for an outline of the wipe (secure erase) process and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.
