Dual boot Window7 and XP, both installed on separate drives

I have Window XP installed on Drive C:\. My son installed Windows 7 on Drive E:\. However, when the computer is booted up, it boots up in Windows 7, without allowing a choice. I suspect this can be corrected in BIOS, but don't want to screw it up. Any help?

You may have installed Windows 7 first and then Windows XP, so, Windows 7 has deleted the boot file of Win XP. The correct order should have been Windows XP --> Then Windows 7.

BIOS does not control the Startup in these case.

Try to install Vista Boot Pro, but you may not get any result.

No. XP was on the machine when Windows 7 was installed.

You have to install dualboot Pro (http://www.vistabootpro.org/) so you can select which of the two SO run at startup, you can even leave one of them by default.

Use EasyBCD to add the Xp entry in the bootloader
Download EasyBCD 2.0.2 - NeoSmart Technologies

If you have separate HD's it's better to boot via BIOS, setting preferred HD as first to boot, then booting other HD using one-time BIOS Boot menu. We can help you set this up.

If both OS's are on the same HD, then EasyBCD linked above is the tool to use to add XP from Win7.

If there are any further problems, post back a screenshot of your full Disk Mgmt drive map using Snipping Tool in Start Menu.
