Problem when installing windows 7 from xp

    Hello everyone:)

I hope somebody can help me with my problem....
I have just change from XP to Windows 7 32 bit ( or i am trying to....), but in the middle of the installation the computer freezes. So i have to start over again and the same happens everytime.
I was reading in another forum about someone who had the same problem, and he had to buy a new harddrive because that was the problem.
I have done the same, but its not working with me.

Do i need to install some drives before i install Windows 7?
Here is a little about my computer:

Abit AB9 Pro, Ati Radeon HD4890, Samsung 500 gb harddrive, Dualcore 3,2

    Please please help me.

In the installation it should ask you what drive or "Partition" you want to install it on click the one and Format it, then try to install it. Make sure you have all the files you want to keep backed up!

thats a good question, did you choose upgrade? or are you doing a clean installation ^? you most likely wont get any problems doing the clean installation compaired to upgrading..... Id just save all your documents music movies etc onto an external hard drive than move it over once you have win7 running.

First off, you can not do an Upgrade from XP. If that is what you are trying to do, that is the problem. You must do a Clean (Custom) Install. You can use a Win 7 Upgrade Disk to do a clean install. See here. Clean Install Windows 7
Insert your Win 7 Disk, shut down your PC and boot from the Win 7 disk. This will start your installation. Just remember that a Clean Install erases everything so make sure you have your files you want to keep backed up. Let us know how things go.

Hello JanTore, welcome to Seven Forums!

If the Windows 7 install disk is one you burned yourself it may be a bad burn and needs to be done again, if so this would be the first thing to try.

Use the free ISO burner at the link below to burn another at a speed of now more than 4x and select to let the program to verify the disk before it finishes and
be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.
