Where did you get your Windows 7 from... you may have a corrupted install disc .. try a different install disc, or burn another one...

Hello mikula, welcome to Seven Forums!

How big is the new HDD, Windows 7 sometime has difficulties installing to too large a space of 1TB and more, if this may be the case, I would use the info in this snip and the tutorial at the link below (though use "clean" instead of "clean all" to a new HDD) to create a single 100GB partition to do the install to and see if that sorts it and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

Its a brand new hard drive. New mobo, processor, ram and graphics card. The guy was installing vista on it yesterday before I told him I had windows 7 and began doing it myself. I trip formatting the drive and 10 minutes later gave me an error

Make sure you have the latest BIOS version update from computer or mobo maker's Support Downloads webpage. If so, reset the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Also in BIOS setup set SATA controller to AHCI first, then IDE mode if necessary.

If install fails, try pre-partitioning the HD using free Partition Wizard bootable CD or the DISKPART steps in BareFootKid's post above. Mark it Active.

Next test your RAM with memtest86 for 5-6 passes: RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Then test your HD with maker's diag/repair full CD scan: HD Diagnostic

Post back the exact wording of the error message.

The guy at the shop was installing vista when I got it and he canceled cause I had 7. I think the disk might be bad

Be sure to wipe the HD using tutorial theog posted above. And Create the full partition marked Active in Step 2.2.

If you have continued problems and suspect its the installer (as could be) call MS Tech Support so they can replace it if it's determined not working right.
