Scanner Problems with Win7 RC

So.... I'm very impressed with Windows 7 RC, but I have one inexplicable problem: my Canoscan D1250U2F scanner won't install. The peculiar thing is that it installed and ran with the Beta, but now the RC simply will not even acknowledge that the scanner is there. The system gives me a sound tone when I remove the cable and plug it back in, but no message box comes up. I have plenty of alternatives for scanner drivers, etc. but you can't install a USB scanner if the system can't see it. Again, it worked with the BETA!?

Any suggestions welcomed!

Hey! I fixed it!

So bizarre! I changed the scanner to a different USB port, and the system saw it! Fooled around a bit... and I got it running! KUDOS to Windows 7!
I am now running everything I had on XP, including some legacy apps like Omnipage Pro Version 9 ( for some reason, it took 10 minutes to start running the setup program???) and the built in voice recognition is almost as good as Dragon Speaking. I AM IMPRESSED!

Thanks, Microsoft!

The take-away from this is that it's a good idea to unplug USB/Firewire/E-SATA and other removable devices while performing an operating system installation or upgrade.

After the O/S is installed, the device should be detected and the drivers installed and configured the first time you connect it and everything will be nice and springtime fresh.

From your description it sounds like the USB port/device enumeration for you scanner got munged during the transition (happens). Moving the device to another port forced the O/S to redetect and renew.

Right, this is a motherboard limitation. Labs I've worked at requires us to manually re-connect some legacy equipment, and just can't get around it virtually.
