    Installing OEM inside Windows

    Hi all,

I have an Acer 5551 that I want to restore to factory. The alt F10 doesn't work at boot, so I need to find another way.

Is there a way to reinstall the preinstalled OS without using the eRecovery shortcut? Maybe something in Windows? Command prompt?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers!!

    Thanks for the reply.

No, I didn't make re ovary discs and I can't get into the eRecovery in the normal manner.

I installed a new OS, so I believe this removes the files that allows me to enter the recovery in the normal manner.

The partition is untouched, so there must be a way in.

Hello Funktank, welcome to Seven Forums!

If you can find an exact Windows version that the PC shipped with you can do a clean install using the activation key on the COA sticker attached to the PC though it may require a robo-call to MS to sort the OEM batch-key.

If you can't find an exact same version, you could use the info in this tutorial to create an "all Versions" installer of any version Windows installer, to install using the same method I posted above and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

I should add that the OS I am running is a new install of Windows, not an Acer install.

The short version is I Installed Snow Leopard and then had to use a vanilla install of Windows to boot in and reinstall. So as it stand I have no connectivity on the machine.

Are you reinstalling Windows 7 or the old Acer install?

I have reinstalled from a new disc, so I have a clean install. There are no drivers for LAN or wireless, essentially this is what I need but there is no Internet connection to get them.
