Make an iso out of the dvd
Is it possible to create an iso file of the win7 dvd so I can then burn the iso to a usb flash drive for installation?

If you would like to make an ISO of the Windows 7 disk, you can use this program
MagicISO - Convert BIN to ISO, Create, Edit, Burn, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter/extractor/editor

Thanks, I was looking in the tutorials but didn't see that one. I only found the ones for if you downloaded the .iso. Sometimes I just like to reinstall every from scratch because I play around with a lot of software etc. and figured it would be a lot faster doing it from the usb key then the dvd.
I do have a system image now that I can use instead of starting all over again.

make it a universal installer while you're there.
you'll be able to install all flavours (home premium, ultimate etc) in 32 and 64 bit varieties. you'll need valid keys of course.

You can extract the ISO using ImgBurn.
