Compaq N6230 Win 7 Install problems

    Hi All,

I have tried to install Windows 7 enterprise 32-bit on the above stated laptop. There are several issues that I need help with:

    1. When I use Windows 7 cd and I hit new it creates the disk0 partition 1 as
100mb system and disk0 partition 2 as windows 7. I can work around this
by deleting both partitons and then hit next and windows 7 will load

    2. After Installation, I receive the dreaded corrupt registry error loop
and have had to reinstall 2 or 3 times. Why is this happening? The lastest
problem was after getting the system up and installing several apps(ITunes,
Google Crome, Firefox, GFI Backup and Restore, AVG Free) it was working
fine and I shut it down. I went to start it up and it went back to the registry
loop. Any Help would be appreciated. Thanks

Wipe the HD before install, follow these steps (which pertain) to get a purrfect install: re-install windows 7

Use MSE or Avast with the Win7 firewall.

Hello CJ9911, welcome to Seven Forums!

If the Windows 7 install disk is one you burned yourself it may be a bad burn and needs to be done again, if so this would be the first thing to try.

Use the free ISO burner at the link below to burn another at a speed of now more than 4x and select to let the program to verify the disk before it finishes.

Where did you buy your Windows 7 Enterprise 32bit from?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you all. theog I was given a copy of it from my work. Gregrocker and BFK Thanks. I used the instuctions that you gave and it
helped. When I checked the device manager it found 2 items that didn't have drivers(Mass storage Controller and PCI). I got the drivers and it seems to be stable now. Again Thanks for your help and would definitely recommend this site to my friends. CJ
