    Hello?

Why would he be reinstalling these drivers if the installer provided them?

Newer drivers are provided quickly via optional Windows Updates.

You'll only need to provide drivers which are in error, missing or produce performance problems.

Alright. My bad. I'll do a clean all and then install 7 again. This time without updating any drivers. Will post back the result in a few hours. Thanks.

Guys! I finished doing a clean install and have logged into Windows. What should I do next? Sorry for acting noobish. But I do not want to go through the pains of clean all and install again.

Have you let Windows Update install all the updates for your machine? You may want to run the update manually to be sure that you have all the updates installed ... Open device manager and be sure that all of your drivers are installed ... if you don't see any yellow triangles indicating a problem, then you are good to go...

Now, if your system is stable, all of the updates are installed, and there are no driver conflicts, I would recommend that you image your system drive!! If something happens, it is a LOT easier to restore an image than it is to go through a reinstall of your OS..

This will show you how to create a system image (clone) backup of the entire hard drive or partition that Windows 7 is on, and any other selected drive or partition, to be able to restore the hard drive or partition at boot up back to the way it was at the time the backup image was created.

UPDATE: I thought of giving it one last go. I removed the 2 sticks of 1GB RAM; now the system was on only a 2GB stick. Tried to keep it as simple as possible. This time I used diskpart command during Win 7 installation and used clean all command to prepare the HDD. It worked! Installed like a charm!

After getting into Windows, I thought first I should get all drivers up and running. So I installed the chipset, lan, audio drivers. After finishing, I restarted the PC and alas! Same problem again.
Install drivers one at a time with a reboot for each driver.
Better yet, use Windows update to search for drivers as you were told. Before you do anything else create a time-saving Windows image.

How is overall performance? Are there any hangs or slowdowns?

Look for issues cued in Action Center in bottom right System Tray.

Check your logs for repeat errors to resolve them. Troubleshooting tips.
