Installation Failing

Hello,
I’m having trouble loading Windows 7 64bit Home Premium onto my system. This is a fresh build, with all brand new components (see below for list). I am getting the following Error while installing:
“Windows cannot install required files. The file does not exist. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070002”

After clicking OK, pressing the “Install Now” button brings up the screen where my HD should be present but shows no HD. After using the reset button the HD is again viewable.

I have tried several times now to load windows with the same result. The install fails at random points during the install process, but always during the “Expanding Windows Files”. This is my first build and set-up, and feeling rather lost at this point. Any help would be great!

Asus Sabertooth x58 Motherboard
Intel i7 950 at 3.07 CPU
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 7200RPM 32MB SATA 6Gb/s
6GB DDR3 Kingston (3x2GB) at 1866
LG Blu-ray Disc Rewriter WH10LS30
Rosewill 1000W PSU
EVGA GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) SuperClocked

Try with only 2g of ram.

Than
Try a full clean & full format in command prompt.
1) Boot DVD, & Press Shift+F10 (for command prompt)
2) Boot DVD, & Command Prompt at Startup
(for command prompt)

Type in command line
If you have no partitions on your HD.
DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (win HD)
CLEAN ALL
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT fs=NTFS
ASSIGN
EXIT
EXIT

Run the "clean all" then use the info in this snip below to create and activate a single 100GB partition to do the install to, this helps in some of these cases and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

Tried the install with 2GB RAM, same error...

I'm trying the command prompt you wrote about right now. I am at the "CLEAN ALL" part and it has been sitting there for a very long time, does this usually take a very long time? I can't type anything in the command window, I assume this is because it is still cleaning the disk.

***EDIT*** The clean all finished but with an error "DiskPart has encountered an error: The system cannot find the file specified. See the System Event Log for more information.

Are you using this method at the link below to open diskpart, the "clean all" can not be run from Windows it has to be booted to, to work.

Also, did you see the post above about creating a single 100GB partition to do the install to?

Yes, I booted from the Optical Drive and at the installation window opened the command prompt. That was the error that was posted.

***EDIT*** Also, Yes I saw your post about making a partition. Should I make this partition without preforming the "Clean ALL"?

***EDIT 2*** I just tried to go through the steps again and at the "list disk" i get the message "There are no fixed disks to show."

OK here's another option, download this ISO and burn it to a CD to see if it 'sees' the HDD to do the wipe (secure erase) have a look at Option Three in this tutorial at the link below for the info.

OK....More issues.

I finally got the disk burned and booted from it. The main screen came up and I selected the boot from Partition Wizard 5 CD. This is the error I got:

"ERROR: This bootable CD does not support Windows Server."

clicking OK reboots and the same menu comes up

Where did you get Win7? What version? How do you plan to activate it?

If you burned the DVD, burn another at 4x speed with Verify using ImgBurn, or Windows Image Burner in Win7.

Try USB flash stick install: Install UltraISO trial version, on File tab open confirmed ISO, on Bootable tab Write Disk Image, Format, Write. Boot under USB or HD's.
