Windows cant find portable HDD after dual-booting ubuntu

(Apologies if this isn't the correct forum to put this in.)

I just got a new portable HDD (A seagate freeagent goflex pro 750 gb) and decided to dual-boot ubuntu on it. Installation went fine, dual-boot worked, but when I went to check the HDD on windows 7, it wasn't there anymore.

I've accessed the disk on Windows 7 before installing ubuntu, but now it simply doesn't show up in my computer. I'm not sure if it's an issue with the the disk re-formatting, or if it's something to do with the partitioning ubuntu does, or something completely different, but I can't figure out how to access it again.

I'd like to be able to dual-boot ubuntu AND access the HDD in windows, but if I have to choose, I'd rather just be able to get to the disc in windows. How do I fix this?

EDIT: The good people at the ubuntu forums solved the issue: windows can't read ext4 partitions so I had to switch it to FAT or NTFS.
