Windows 7 - final step of install fails. error msg.

i have a retail copy of windows ultimate that i'm installing on my desktop(asus mother board AMB dual core). i am doing a clean install. it makes it through most of the install process but after it restarts a error msg pops up saying "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. to install windows click ok to restart computer"
after i restart the computer i make it to the same blue screen and the same error comes up to restart.
any suggestions would be great. i have looked through the forums but haven't found this problem.

Hello there, the problem is Hardware related, could be a bad DVD-Drive, a bad RAM module, or even a bad RAM slot on the motherboard, try to install windows again with the least amount of hardware.

Did you buy any new hardware recently? is this a new PC?

ive had the computer for 2 years with xp on it. i put a new video card into it a few weeks ago. i will try removing the video card and some of the ram and retry.

Yep, try to install windows with the least amount of hardware possible, just the necessary.. trial and error would be the best choice here, given the conditions

Did you clean the HD first?

Try using the clean all command.
