Error when Upgradin from Vista 32 bit. Plese help.

Hello, So i have Windows vista 32-Bit service pack 2, and I am trying to upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit. I downloaded Windows 7 from my school, burned it to a DVD and when i click on Setup (Windows Installer) i get this message:

"C:\Users\Marlone\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Burn\Burn\setup.exe
This version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check our computer's system information to see whether you need an x86(32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

What do i have to do to upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7? Any help will be greatly appreciate.

You need to boot the DVD to clean install with 64 bit: Clean Install Windows 7
How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD

If the DVD will not boot, then use the MS tool to burn another from the ISO file you downloaded: Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool

If you want to do an in-place Upgrade you'll need to use the 32 bit version ISO: Upgrade Install with Windows 7

Back up your data first.

Hello loon3y6, welcome to Seven Forums!

There is no upgrade path from 32-bit to 64-bit Windows, it will have to be a clean install; the best way to go forward, after you have copied out or made back-ups of the data you need to save to external media, is to do a wipe (secure erase) of the entire Hard Disk Drive, have a look at this information below.

All the installed programs/apps will have to be reinstalled so be sure to save the activation keys where applicable and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

After you have made backups of everything you care to save and you want to do a real wipe "clean all" to the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) have a look at this tutorial at the link below, it over-writes everything, all the old Windows code including all the old Windows drivers, giving you the best possible space to install Windows 7 to; it goes hand-in-hand with a clean install.
