What To do
My MB is an Asrock K10N78D. All the the info relating to installing a new OS and SATA drives only mentions XP/Vist 32/34bit. Went to the Website downloaded the WIN7 64 Bit All-in-One Drivers, but there is no instruction as to what the procedure is for installation?
I browsed the download once I unzipped it to my USB stick. In amongst the files where 3 folders: ethernet, SMU (no idea!) and IDE. Openned the IDE folder which openned a WIN764 folder, which in turn openned 3 folders these being: RaidTool, SATA Raid and Sata IDE.
I am only going to be using One HDD so do not need raid. Any advice would be welcomed as Asrock support is SLOOOOOW!

Hello there, Delboy.
Let Windows install its own drivers. Although, that motherboard uses a Nvidia 720D Chipset, which can be found here:
Nvidia 720D Chipset: NVIDIA DRIVERS 15.49 WHQL
Download that, install it, and after rebooting, check on Windows Update if any other device needs to be updated. :)

So there should be a good chance that Win 7 should automatically install? Will I still need to select ACHI in Bios?

Yes. you should select AHCI in BIOS for better performance :)

Thanks. Last week Win7 gave me this message 'Windows cannot be installed to this device. Windows could not determine if this disk and it parent devices have necessary driver support'. The HDD was a WD Blue Caviar 500gb brand new. Tried again to install and got AHCI Port 0 Device Error. Got a friend to try my WD in his machine and found that the HDD was dead. So I assume both the above mentioned messages were related to the HDD being dead?

Actually if you set AHCI on BIOS before the install, windows will detect it and it will install the needed drivers.
Yes, it could be related to the fact that the HDD was dead. :)
