    Product ID

I purchased a download version of W7U64 awhile back, so my Product ID is fairly old.. I just won a W7U64 Gold Ballmer signature edition and plan to install it on my kids machine.. Since it is much newer than the version I have, is there any reason to install it on my machine to get the most recent version? I have updates on, but notice my product ID never changes...

I think the Gold edition is just the status symbol of the packaging

Apart from that gold just being packaging, theres no difference whatsoever between your downloaded Ultimate and the "Gold" Ultimate. Hologrammed windows disks are not redesigned every month to incorporate updates- the new disk that'll come now will be the one with SP1 integrated. Till that time, all retail disks whether bought in 2009 or in 2011 are identical.

Keep your copy of Windows. There's nothing fancy about the new one that you got except for Ballmer's sifnature.

Yeah, you aren't dealing with produce here, that gets old and stale. The OS is either pre-SP1 or post-SP1. There's no age to it.

I have the Signature Edition and it has nothing added to retail Ultimate besides the signature.
