installing sp1 using dvd ordered from microsoft

I’m rebuilding an old pc with a new motherboard, cpu, memory , power supply ,video card. I have a DVD of sp1 that I ordered from Microsoft. After I install windows 7 64 should I install sp1 before I run windows update?

Yes, because the SP1 contains all the updates released to that date. It will make your life a little bit easier while updating - as in fewer updates to do.
