laptop accidentally shut down during windows update

I tried to shut down my laptop, the "Installing update, do not shut down or power off your computer" screen appears but my battery died during the update. And now when I startup the "Launch start up repair" appears and when i click it, I get stuck on a blue flower wallpaper screen thing and nothing appears. All i can see is the wallpaper and the mouse cursor. How do i fix this?

Hello mdzbkr, welcome to Seven Forums!

The easiest first thing to try is a system restore to a point before the failed update, if you can't get into Windows to do the restore, have a look Option Two of this tutorial at the link below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

I cannot seem to get past the blue screen thing. And the screen is blank with some flower designs.

You have to boot a Windows installation disk or a created Windows repair disk and run the system restore from there.

If you are trying to repair a PC with the SP 1 installed you will have to use a repair CD created from a PC including the SP 1 to be successful.

Just a thought... Is there a tutorial on creating a slip-streamed DVD and adding SP1 to an existing image?
