    Installation

When i boot my computer from windows-7 dvd. I cannot see the hard disk in the list of storage devices. My hard disk was working properly on xp. And there is no problem while installing xp.

I want to install windows-7 on my desktop computer that i had purchased 3 years ago. previously I was using windows-xp on it.

My ram is 1gb and processor is intel 1.86ghz. Mother board is of asus company. How can i install windows-7 on it?

I would first run the Windows Upgrade Advisor, to make sure that your computer can even run Windows 7...

It may be that the hardware is not compatible with Win 7.

What is the full model number of the motherboard? It is possible that you need to download suitable drivers for use with the storage interface.

I do not know more about my hardware. How can i find it???
Should i have to read the texts printed on my motherboard? I lost all my hardware papers and even the drivers cd.

I do not face this problem when i install windows xp. I face this problem only when installing win-7

Go to the Support Downloads webpage for your computer model, download the storage controller or chipset drivers, unzip to a flash stick or CD.

At the Installation's drives screen, click Load Drivers and browse to the drivers on the stick/CD until the driver loader utility picks them up. Click Refresh to see if HD shows up now.

If not, where did you get Win7? Did you burn the DVD yourself? Try burning another using ImgBurn at 4x speed,

or try install with flash stick: install UltraISO trial, on File tab Open ISO, on Bootable tab Write Disk Image, Format, Write. Boot under USB or HD's.
