Windows 7: Error Re-installing windows

Windows 7 home premium 64 bit

recovery failed, both on recovery hard drive portion and recovery disks. What I'm doing now is wiping C drive clean and factory settings. Nothing to lose. If it's still f***ed up, it's Acer's problem, shit shouldn't be happening on a 3 month old laptop, even if it is my fault I got a virus if the factory reset is screwed that's Acer's fault, as it's sole purpose of recovery and restore is to fix problems like I got.

Little update: rebooting from factory settings failed from recovery disks. I am trying from the recovery portion. If something is wrong with it, the laptop is completely f***ed up. Including the recovery portion. And it's not my fault. If the virus somehow managed to corrupt the recovery portion partition, then at least the disks should've worked. If both fail, the laptop was f***ed from the start.

If you wiped the HD, you'll not have a Recovery partition to restore from.

You'll need to try to run the Recovery Disks again.

Then you can either find a Windows 7 installer for your version to clean reinstall without the Acer factory bloatware: Reinstalling Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums

Or call Acer tech support which is included in your Warranty for the first year. Tell them you have tried to run Factory Recovery from the partition and the disks, in that order, and that neither will work. Don't disclose anything else - they can get jiggy about wiping HD's or clean reinstalling. Just dont' tell them that.

Let them walk you through whatever troubleshooting they do nowadays (don't expect much) to see if they have a fix for a known issue. If not, they will likely want to send you a new Recovery Disk set. You can accept that, then while waiting for the disks try the clean reinstall.

Or you can insist that they RMA the machine. Be polite but firm, never lose your temper or whine. Your purpose is to see if they have a fix for a known issue, discover your options. If I don't like the way an agent is handling it, I politely say I have to go, then call back to try another.

It's going back to factory, I already contacted Acer. But tell me if I I got conned out of 100 bucks: The laptop was 1000 dollars, but they charged me an extra 100 bucks for some preloaded fee, like putting on windows 7 and making recovery disks. But, there was a hard drive partition on the Acer for recovery! Can a store make a hard drive partition for recovery on the hard drive? Or is it the factory that did it? Cause if the factory did it, all the store made was some useless recovery disks without installing the OS (I did not get an original pure Windows 7 CD form the store), with the disks being the exact same thing as the recovery portion, and therefore useless. That would mean the factory already preloaded everything!!!F*** Staples, they may flaunt a nice deal in front of your eyes, but they just f*** you in the end anyway.

Did Windows 7 come with the PC? Do you have a COA sticker with Product Key on the machine? If so then they charged you $100 to make your Recovery Disks.

Yeah, I got scammed. Windows 7 sticker came on the laptop. The store did no work. They said they had to install the OS which takes 5 hours, and make recovery disks, but I have a recovery portion on the laptop. They charged me 100 bucks for 5 f***ing disks. I'm going to Staple tomorrow, even though its been 4 months, this is a scam. They said they had to put work into installing the OS, which they didn't. They basically stole the money. The recovery disks they made were not working anyway.

It will be interesting to hear why they had to install the OS on factory preinstalled Windows 7.

Maybe you can at least bargain to get a Windows 7 installation DVD for your licensed version.. There's value in getting one.
