HP Partition Problem

Alright,

Here's the deal. I want to install another version of Windows and or Ubuntu by shrinking the 450 GB hard drive with the current Windows 7 Partition on it. I tried going into Computer Management --> Disk Management, and when I try to shrink the drive. I am allowed 0 everything. Which means when HP installed Windows 7 on this hard drive, they put files at the end of the hard drive so I couldn't partition it.

I have used Pirifrom Defraggler (A De-fragmentation Program) to view what files are at the end, and if I can some how defragment them back to the top so I can partition this hard drive.

I can't and or don't know how to move them. I know nothing about partitioning and how to move files around on my hard drive.

I have provided a link to the screen shot below. Please, can somebody help me? Thank you.

Edit: I have highlighted the area's of interest in a transparent red.

I hope to hear from someone soon,
Thank you,
Aaron

Use free Partition Wizard bootable CD to Resize C as you wish. Partition Wizard

Be sure to back up your files first when using any 3rd party partitioning program, however we have used PW CD for many complicated partitioning operations here without failure.

Using the disk allows resizing of System files which will not be running.

Remember that when creating a fourth partition you will need to make it an Extended Logical partition so that you can add as many sub-partitions as desired.

If you ever have four Primary partitions and try to add another, do not accept converting to Dynamic - instead use PW CD to convert one to Logical Extended..

Hello Aaron.

First download the Partition Wizard Bootable Disk (PWBD) ISO file to the desktop, be sure to get the PWBD and not the installed version; scroll down to see the download link for the bootable CD ISO file at this link below.

Then use ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD, at no greater than 4x speed with a verify; it was designed for use and works best from a CD rather that a DVD then boot the created CD to make the changes.

You can get someideas of the PWBD uses in this tutorial at the link below.

Have a look at Method One of this tutorial that shows how to create an Extended partition wherever needed and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.
