    Suddenly,Windows installer "doesnt" Work.

well, people,I need urgent help because after my AVAST free 30-days trial ended,my machine has starting going backwards.

I've downloaded MSE (microsoft security essentials) and tried to install it,but it comes up with:ERROR CODE=0x8004FF01 (which means Windows Installer cant be started/accesded)

I've also tried with AVG but it comes up with=
The WIS could not be accesed. This can occur if the WSI is not properly installed...

But,people, problem is I GOT WIS UP AND RUNNING,I can see it the services tab.

I suspect that is a Virus or a missing file.
I also tried doing the following things to no avail=
    -System restore.
    -SFC SCANNOW
    -Chkdsk.
-Malwarebytes says there is nothing (malware).
-Full scan avast says there is nothing.
All said that the operation was successful but it stills comes up with the same error.

I fear using my GMAIL,HOTMAIL and PAYPAL accounts because I dont know if they will get "stolen"

Thanks for lending me a hand.

EDIT:This is very funny you know....all installers I've download (bitdefender,AVG,Microsoft,Kaspersky,Avira) didnt work...BUT...AVAST FREE HOME EDITION DID!
Know Im starting to think who was the one responsible for this...

You uninstalled Avast trial which caused installer to malfunction when installing another AV, although reinstalling Avast free version worked?

You may need to run the Avast uninstall tool to get all of it out so that it stops interfering with Windows installer: avast! Uninstall Utility

There are uninstall tools for all AV's so let us know if it might have been caused by faulty uninstall of another one you tried.

No,I connected the uninstall with the malfunction because JUST AFTER I uninstalled it,all the other Antivirus installers started giving out that error.
The only one which didnt gave out that error was the AV Free Home Edition.
Ok,will try uninstalling Avast Free Home edition with the Avast Uninstall tool.
    Will post ASAP.
    Again,thanks for helping.

EDIT:Used the uninstall tool......removed AVAST HOME EDITION successfully but the MSEInstaller still comes up with the same error= 0x8004FF01

Type services.msc in Start Search Box, make sure the Windows Installer Service is not disabled and will start.

Download the MSE installer for your Operating System from the Home Page: http://microsoft.com/security_essentials

Save the file to your Desktop. This will ensure that you can find it easily after the download is done.

Now press the Windows Key and R all at the same time. This will open the RUN dialog box.

Make sure that you delete any entries inside RUN. Now drag the MSE installer into the RUN dialog box.

Depending on your Operating System, after dragging the file into RUN it should appear as any of the three below:

    "C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\Desktop\mssefullinstall-x86fre-en-us-xp.exe"

    C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Desktop\mssefullinstall-x86fre-en-us-vista-win7

    C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Desktop\mssefullinstall-amd64fre-en-us-vista-win7.exe

Now put a space in between the whole line and put /U as seen below:

    "C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\Desktop\mssefullinstall-x86fre-en-us-xp.exe" /U

    C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Desktop\mssefullinstall-x86fre-en-us-vista-win7 /U

    C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Desktop\mssefullinstall-amd64fre-en-us-vista-win7.exe /U

    Hit OK.

    I have enabled the Win.Installer.
I have "uninstalled" the MSE but when I try to install it again it comes up with the same error.

Is it only on the AV's that the installer will not run?

You might want to consider a Repair Install but you will have to uninstall SP1 to run it if you don't have a Win7 Installer with Sp1.

Sorry I didnt explain myself quite properly.

All instalers except AV wont work.
    AV installer will work.

Also,It seems that this problem also extends to windows updates as they arent installed properly.
When I select Shut down,it displays "Installing Windows update 10 of 13..." and it stays there for days.

So,It seems I'll have to backup and format/system restore?

I'm curious? Did you by chance install/uninstall AV while MS was updating in the background?

Personally I probably would have reformatted/reinstalled the OS....but I don't have data that needs backing up..it's a gaming rig lol...System restore could/should work..hopefully. Saves a lot of work if it does.
