Can I install 2 versions of Win 7 on the same hard disk?

I have Windows Home Premium. installed. The hard disk has 2 partitions
I want to install Windows 7 Ultimate on the same hard drive, using the second partition.

Can it be done with a dual boot? and if possible, how?!

    Thanks in advance!

Your HD disk 0, has three Primary Partition & one Logical.

I would delete the Logical drive, remake to Primary & follow this tutorial:
Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and Vista
    Replace Vista with Windows 7.

Warning:Making a Dual boot with a OEM Recovery Partition, may make Recovery unuseable.
Make sure you make the OEM Recoivery disks first.

Hello Designing7, welcome to Seven Forums!

I'm of the exact opposite opinion as theog, though he's my mate! :)

I think putting a second installation of Windows 7 on the Extended/Logical drive is an excellent idea, being on a Logical drive, the installation won't be able to alter the "System" boot files and the new installation will function just fine.

Then if/when the time comes to remove the second Windows 7 there won't be anything special that will have to be done, you will be able to just format/delete the Logical to 'remove' that install, where if it's on a Primary partition it will not be that easy to remove.

Two very different methods that work almost equally as well, the choice is yours to make and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

I already went to the site to check if they have those disks but apparently, they don't recognize my SNID. Don't know why...

Theo is right about getting your recovery discs sorted first - so you can go back to factory condition if the need ever arises.

Is there some way of running them off from within the operating system? There usually is with these oem pre installs.

May be something along these lines :

You can install win 7 ult directly to the logical drive if you like.

There is no need to convert it to primary.

It makes no difference either way - the boot critical files will all be on your system reserved (100mb ) , whichever way you do it.

Just boot the install dvd - follow the simple instructions - you will automatically get a dual boot menu.

Yes - looks like there is something on your intended install target ( if you need it , copy it somehwhere else first ) - you might want to do a quick format - you can do that during installation.
