Fresh Windows 7 Install Freezes

Hi!

Got some issues with my HP Pavilion t3713.sc Desktop PC and Windows 7(and VISTA)...

A few days ago, all out of the blue, my PC started to freeze - at that time with VISTA installed. I tried to restart and it froze again, just after a couple of minutes. Tried again, again, again and again. With the same result. Without getting any further I tried to install Windows 7 to get my PC up and running again. Formatted all of partitions to get a fresh and clean start... - and it froze again, within a couple of minutes.

Now I suspect it may be caused by a hardware problem? What is there to do? What can I do? I`m far from a PC-expert

I HP is somewhere between 1-3 years old I think, and I`ve never encountered this problem before, on this PC or any other.

Hello shred, welcome to Seven Forums!

Are you comfortable enough to open the PC and if so can you identify the RAM modules?

I know that some HP motherboards develop issues with multiple RAM sticks and removing some sorts the issue but you have to take care handling the sticks as they are very sensitive to stray static electric charges from being handled.

I could do that, what sort of information would I look for?

Forgot to mention that PC is in it original state, nothing has been removed/updated/added hardware-wise nor anything changed in the BiOS.

The problem just occoured over the night.

Thanks for the reply btw

I'm afraid my idea is no help as it seems there's only a single 1GB stick of RAM; keep checking back to see if others may have some ideas for you, I'm not really a hardware type.

Reinstalling Windows 7

After testing your RAM and HD, try reinstalling following these steps. Post back any error messages verbatim.

Memory Diagnostics Tool and Memtest86 did not give me any errors.

I dont know the brand on my HD, and HP specifications leaves out the name. (https://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...ct=3361612#N68).

Downloaded UBCD and randomly picked a couple, or more, of the HD diagnostic tools for tryout. (Suprisingly|luckily) one of the selected tools did not prompt with a error - and told me that I had a Samsung HD now I`m running Samsung Diagnostic
