Dell Optiplex gx620 Seagate 1500 Gbytes

Hi, I tried to exchange the 40GB disc for a 1500GB seagate barracuda 7200.11 disc but the Dell Optiplex gx620 doesn't recognize it. I installed the latest Bios A11 from Dell but it still doesn't recognize it. I mounted a 750GB Samsung drive and no problem. Is there a limit on the drive size in this computer? Thanks, Martin

There may be a limit present in the BIOS (or by the SATA controller) for large drives. Aside from trying a BIOS update (which didn't work), you may be out of luck.

if you still have warranty or gurantee o your drive maybe try taking it back for a different model..if not you could always buy an external case and make it a an external hard drive....

Newlink 3.5" Inch USB 2.0 or eSATA To IDE/SATA HDD Enclosure CDLSB-808

maybe something along those lines...you still have the benefit of using all your 1.5tb and only uses one usb port.that would be my recommendation.
treply and tell us how you gte along?
