win 7 64 and office 10 I reformatted my hard drive recently and I do not have any office products on my system what so ever. Just to make sure I have used the " Fix it for me" removal tool at microsoft website for both 07 and 10 office and registry shows no signs of office as well. When I install office from the disc it starts to install but It almost immediately stops only after 1/8 inch of green progress bar and says an error has occurred during installation. It gives me no error code what so ever. What the heck do i do now? | My System Specs |

FWIW, Have you taken a look at the CD to make sure that it does not have a spec of dirt or such on the cdrom?
Also, One thing, what AV are you running and you might try shutting it down when doing the install.
What version of office 10 are you trying to install, Memory, Hard disk space???

If there's no obvious sign of dirt or cracks on the DVD, copy its contents to your hard drive first and try to install from there.
You don't say how long you've had the Office software or where you got it from, but if you bought from a reputable reseller they should be able to exchange the disc if its faulty. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion Elite 495UK OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-Bit CPU Intel Core i7 870 @ 2.93GHz Motherboard MSI 2A9C (CPU1) Memory 8Gb Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTX 460 1024MB dedicated RAM Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays HP2310i Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech K750 solar-powered keyboard Mouse Logitech Wireless M180 mouse PSU 460W Case HP Elite Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives 1x1954GB Hitachi HDS22020ALA 330 (RAID), 1x1954GB Hitachi External for backup and storage Internet Speed 2Mb Other Info Pure Avanti Flow Internet Radio with iPod Dock, 64Gb iPod, HP USB Speakers, Sony MDR-V500 Headphones, Sony Vaio F-Series Laptop |

Rich Theres nothing on the disk and it has been used to install on 2 other machines and worked fine. I am using Eset Smart Security 4 for my AV..... I have 4gb RAM and 150gb free harddisk. I am trying to install office 2010 professional. I just ran the install again, I wiped the disc just to be safe, and disabled AV and firewall. And the same thing happened exactly at the same place as it always errors at | My System Specs | | |

You say you've installed it on two other computers, which may be why you're getting an error.
Have a look at the packaging and check what your licence conditions are.
Also, you say you've also checked for dirt and dust. Check for hairline cracks running from the centre of the disc as that will be enough to stop the installation as I found out from experience.
Did you try copying the contents to your hard drive and installing from there? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion Elite 495UK OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-Bit CPU Intel Core i7 870 @ 2.93GHz Motherboard MSI 2A9C (CPU1) Memory 8Gb Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 664MHz Graphics Card nVidia GeForce GTX 460 1024MB dedicated RAM Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays HP2310i Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech K750 solar-powered keyboard Mouse Logitech Wireless M180 mouse PSU 460W Case HP Elite Cooling Air cooled Hard Drives 1x1954GB Hitachi HDS22020ALA 330 (RAID), 1x1954GB Hitachi External for backup and storage Internet Speed 2Mb Other Info Pure Avanti Flow Internet Radio with iPod Dock, 64Gb iPod, HP USB Speakers, Sony MDR-V500 Headphones, Sony Vaio F-Series Laptop |
