    MicroSD card reuse after formatting

I recently formatted a 2GB SanDisk micro sd to offer to a friend to use in his cell phone. Formatted the card twice in my Nokia and when we installed it in the other device, which is a boost phone, it did not recognize the card.

Am i correct in assuming that there is a factory format and a device format? Because there were some folders on the card that could not be deleted. Also installed it in another friends device and tried to format it in that device and got a format error.

Could someone pls explain the reason for this.

    Thanks

    Hi,

It's possible that you set the microSD up with a password. Even after formatting it from the device, the microSD will still be encrypted, thus not allowing other devices and even PCs to access it. What Nokia device do you have? I'll let you know how you can remove the password.

Also, the folders are automatically created by the device and can be deleted from another device or a PC.

I have that Panasonic SD Formatter installed on my 7 Ultimatex64 system....it's come in handy for my various MP3 players and cards. I can't speak to the Nokia PC Suite, however.

Try inserting the microSD on your device and follow these steps:

    Go to Menu>Tools>Memory>Remove Password.

Let me know how it goes.
