    installing from hard disk

    i have the iso of win7 7100

i want to format c then install 7.

i currently have vista 32 bit.
    through harddisk:
can i mount the image from vista and then start the setup from vista and then format c: (vista) and install windows 7? or will i have to use a usb disk?

    through usb:
secondly how can i clean install win7 64 bit through usb if i have vista 32 bit?

    Thanks.

Main way of installing if you have an older version of windows would be to burn the iso to dvd then boot from that. Delete the vista partitions and create a new one. Then install windows 7.

There is also a tutorial on installing windows 7 from a usb drive:

    usb install

when making the usb and transferring the windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit does it matter if i am using vista 32 bit or 64 bit?

If you are using the manual method (from the link above) it does matter, but if you use the first method (with UltraISO) then it shouldn't matter... but I didn't try it out so I'm not sure...

Youd need to clean install to go from 32-bit to 64-bit.
