Can't get rid of xp temporary copied files after rebot

    Hi,
I have windows 7 on my HP desktop and i needed windows xp for a certain program for school so i created a partition of 40 GB and formatted it as NTFS... I booted the installation disk and it was loading setup and it said the thier is no disk drive or partitions so i booted 7 back up and Googled it and it said something about raid drivers and SCSI or something needing to be updated... so i booted into setup and noticed that my SAta controler or waterva it is was set to raid so i set it to IDE and booted it this time after loading setup fles my partitions were there so i selected the 40 gb partition and pressed install it copied seup files for Windows xp and said rebooting... it rebooted and all i see is ( _ ) <-- that thing blinking forever so what do i do i've been googling it for ever and cant find what i want so either what do i do to fix it and install windows xp so it's working or just get rid of xp and it temporary copied install files thank you very very very very Much!. :)

btw this is my first post on SevenForums.

Download and burn to CD free Partition Wizard bootable CD, boot it, select 1 for screen res, look at which partition is currently marked Active.

Rightclick the 100mb System Reserved partition (first choice, if you have it) or the Win7 partition itself to Modify>Mark Active, OK.

Now highlight the Win7 disk itself, from Disk tab select Rebuild MBR, click OK, Apply both steps. Exit and remove PW CD, restart computer.

If Win7 doesn't start up, boot the Win7 DVD Repair Console or Repair CD to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots to repair or rewrite the SYstem Boot FIles to Win7 or it's boot partition.

hello thank you very much for replying.
i downloaded the boot program and burnt the iso to a CD.... booted it and i selected default res went to follow the second step by clicking on my partition where windows 7 is installed and you then i went follow the next bit witch was modify>Make active but that wasn't their and all that was their was "set inactive -- set active" it seemed to be already set on "set active" so i went to the next step where you said to rebuild MBR in the disk tab But it's dimed out and i cant click it! please help what do i do?

You must click to highlight the WIn7 hard drive for Rebuild MBR to show up.

Can you post back a camera snap of the PW drive map with listings?

If not, what other partitions do you have and what are their labels? Which is System, Active?

You also need to reset your BIOS back.

    Can you post your specs.
