    Setup

I have got a new Sony VAIO E series. I started the setup and it had reached a position where it was Recovering all the files. As it was taking long, I folded the screen to wipe out some dust. When I opened it back, the Windows 7 Logon Screen was displayed (http://bit.ly/jho65E(this is not the exact picture)) and there was no sign of the Recovering Window. I tried to open the User Acount and it said that the setup is not finished. So i Restarted the Laptop, everything was fine till the Logon Screen when a message came up that the Setup was Not Installed Properly so Restart the Computer. I did that and again the same message came up, I did that for 2-3 times more and got the same Results. Please Help Me.

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

You haven't given us your system specs or said whether you were trying to set it up for the first time, but as it's a new computer I'd be inclined to to return it for a repair, recovery or replacement.

Hello MoniMini and welcome to Seven Forums.

Since you're just setting up your Vaio I think the quickest way to resolve this is to look for a button called Assist which should be located just above and to the right of the keyboard. With the computer turned off, click this button once. The computer will power on and take you to a Sony help screen. One of the options should be to restore your computer to factory settings ( or something along those lines - I'm not sitting at my Vaio right now and my memory isn't the greatest any more :). ) Once the restore process begins, do not close the lid as this will put your machine into a sleep or hibernate condition and setup will not work.

Please post back to let us know if this works for you.

Thanks, BTW, I have got the Recovery CDs with the pack. The other information will be indeed very helpful.

And as I am new to seven forums can you teach me how to private message a person and how to mark a thread as Solved?

    Thank You...

At the top of each page is a Quick Links. Click on that and select Send PM. To ask a moderator to show a thread as solved, you can click on the red triangle (upper right corner next to the scales.)
