    Deleting old windows file


    Wasn't sure which category this goes under but.
    Im running windows 7 ultimate atm, i installed it on a vista machine, on the second hard drive. Now im trying to delete the "windows" vista files on my main harddrive but it wont let me.
    Iv tried taking ownership but i keep getting the message

    you need permission to perform this action
    you require permission from mark-pc/mark to make changes to this folder :s
    please help

    Hello Buzzrock23, welcome to Seven Forums!



    Before we make any specific recommendations will you please post a snip/screen-shot of the entire disk management drive map with a full description as to which drive/partition is which, so we can see what you have going on as there may be a fairly simple way to resolve the situation.

    In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a maximized snip of that.

    The vista files are on C:
    Windows 7 folders on D:
      My Computer

    Have a look at this tutorial at the link below, it'll show how to recover all the space to the left of D: into the Windows 7 partition, just follow the steps of the tutorial; and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.
