    Hello Darkhorn,

You can use this tutorial for how to dual boot with XP and Windows 7 if needed.

Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP

When you select XP to boot to, you will see the XP boot screen. When you select Windows 7 to boot to, you will see the Windows 7 boot screen.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

I don't think you can install xp and keep just the boot screen. Although I did upgrade vista to a build of 7 and ended up keeping the vista boot screen, and sounds. But it wasn't intentional, and i just reinstalled.

You could however get a program/modify some files to change your boot screen to whatever you want. Just do a google search for it

It looks like this guy has some boot screens you can download for XP to make it look like Windows 7

***Warning*** I have no idea how safe they are. I would virus scan it first.

It will depend on how you setup a dual boot between XP and 7. If XP is on first the entry for XP will then be added into the 7 BCD while 7 becomes the default OS. When selecting XP at startup from the 7 boot menu you will then see the XP splash screen.

For adding XP or Vista into the 7 BCD with 7 on first using the EasyBCD tool presently available you will lose the 7 screen in favor of the Vista splash even on the XP/7 on first dual boot since the tool was written for Vista. Hopefully the next version will see that problem corrected.
