hi guys i originally had vista but installed 7 onto a second hard drive and now just want to use windows 7. i was wondering how i would go about deleting vista altogether and just keeping windows 7. vista and 7 are both on separate hard drives.

If Windows 7 was installed after Vista you will probably need to make the Windows 7 partition as "System Active" then you should be able to remove the Vista install; have a look at this tutorial at the link below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

hey iv done that and now the hard drive with windows 7 has these attributes
(boot, page file, active,crash dump, primary partition)
while the vista hard drive has these
(system, primary partion)
is that right or worng or where do i go from here?
No I don't think that is right. Windows 7 should be system, everything else looks OK. Does the system boot and are the 2 OS on th same hard drive?
no vista and 7 are on seperate hard drives. i made the vista one inactive and done the system repair 3 times and i got that.
What I think is that your boot files are on your recovery partition. Most OEM's do it that way. Since they are on different disks, shut down the computer, disconnect the drive Vista is installed on. Just removing the power cable is good enough. Turn the computer on and see if windows will boot. If it does, you are good . If it does not boot, put the repair disk in and go through the steps in the tutorial again without vista connected. If that does not work, try this tutorial.
ok if it boots up without the hard drive with vista in it then i can just delete vista from that hard drive and 7 shouldnt be affected?
Do this startup repair 3 separate times with a system restart between each repair to create the "System" partition to the Windows 7 partition, be sure to select the Windows 7 partition here and not the Vista partition.
