    OK, finally getting somewhere.
It seems to be doing the clean all thing. Will let you know in an hour or so.
    Hope this works.
Since this involves the installation disk and I don't want an OS installed, do I remove the install disk after it has wiped the HDD with zeros and it will want to reboot?
Do I remove the install disk then?

First remove the Windows installation DVD then type exit 2 separate times in the command window to close it and restart/shutdown the machine.

    OK.
Cursor is still ticking away. When it's done I'll hook the SSD up and see if I can fix the product key problem with the OS disk I bought for the build that is on the SSD.

Stuck on what to do next

OK, I have unplugged the wiped HDD and plugged the SSD back in.
Booted and tried another product key the seller gave me and I get:

Product key does not match current Windows SKU
Typing in the first Product key still gives me the invalid product key dialogue.
I then did the SSD/HDD Optimization page and have gotten to

    2) Create a specific size partition

It says, "succeeded in creating the specified partition.

Not sure what to do from here because it says "do not format partition"
but in the 2.1 picture it shows "format fs=ntfs label= "windows 7"

    Confusing????
This is a small 90 GB SSD and I have allowed 82944MB to primary partition.

Help me complete this last step before install please!

I don't gey what you are saying.

After you get "succeeded in creating the specified partition" type exit 2 separate times and that should close the command window and you can start the install.

    A little further along

OK, I typed "active" then hit enter for the SSD alignment and exit twice.
Had to load the OS a few times but am now at product key invalid and am waiting on the seller of the OS for info.
Is it OK to hard boot this thing (product key registration window) right now?

You'll need to do the workaround in the tutorial to activate Upgrade version on a wiped HD, which is why I suggested to simply format the HD as the installer would then have seen the prior OS to allow Upgrade version Product Key.

You can leave the Product Key blank until after you do the workaround.

Again, I suggest you do the Registry edit which is simplest. Set a restore point in case you make a mistake. I am not suggesting you restore anything.

I made the simple observation that unplugging the other drives was likely what caused the install to work, and that this works frequently in the kind of install failure you reported. Why you read this as some sort of accusation I do not know.
