New Hard Drive question

So i got a new Hard drive (1Tb), formatted it, and installed windows 7 on it. however when i try to boot directly from it in bios it fails to work. I boot from my old hard drive and select the new copy of windows and it loads fine, it being installed on my new hard drive.

so my question is, how do i set my new hard drive as the primary partition, active, and the system hard drive so that that copy of windows can boot from it and i can erase my old hard drive?
also how can i get rid of the start up screen asking me which copy of windows 7 to boot from?

the status for the drives under computer management is as follows
C: (0ld) system, active, primary partition
K: (new) boot, page file, active, crash dump, primary partition

You're going to have to reinstall.

Remove/disconnect the old drive so the new drive becomes C:.
Do a Clean Install of Windows 7.

Now if you want, you can reconnect the old drive and use BIOS to select which one to boot from, since the will both be seen as C: when booted.

did u install 7 on ur new TB HDD with the ori still plugged in?

Physically disconnect C:sata cable. Run startup repair 3 times.
With C: still disconnected make sure you can boot. Then connect C: and check that you can BIOS boot.

~~Note: The 2 HDD should be running with separate licenses when installed together.~~
Even easier you appear to only to have one OS.

Hello pnkpanther, welcome to Seven Forums!

Before you do anything or we make any specific recommendations will you please post a snip/screen-shot of the entire disk management drive map with a full description as to which drive/partition is which, so we can see what you have going on as there may be a fairly simple way to resolve the situation.

In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a maximized snip of that.

Here is a screenshot of my computer management. I installed the new copy of windows onto my new hard drive, but i did so by opening the CD in my old windows copy and doing a custom install to put it on the new hard disk.

Also would it be possible to do this fix without a windows 7 disk?

Do as the others have suggested and disconnect the HDD that is now Disk 0 and connect the HDD that is not Disk 1 to the #1 SATA port of the mobo and set it as the second boot device after the CD/DVD drive and run the 3 separate startup repairs.

Are you aware that you will not be able to change the K: drive letter without another clean install, it will not work at all and if you try you may totally disable that install.

That will not matter but some progs/apps you need to install may not be able to find C: to install to and that may cause serious issues in the long run; it may be better now to connect the new HDD to SATA #1 and leave the old HDD disconnected and do another real clean install.

This will do it.
