Unallocated hard drives

Hi All

This is my first post here so I hope I am putting it in the right spot??

I have just upgraded this system to Windows7 64bit from Windows XP.

I have 3 internal hard drives. but when I got to My Computer it shows only 1. I went into BIOS setup and they are all listed there.

Then I went to Disk Management they are listed there as well but two of them are listed as Unallocated. I am not sure how to change it.

I have also tried two external drives that I have. Only one of the two works. the one that doesn't register with the pc works on another pc running Windows7 32bit.

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter

Hello fudge1979, welcome to Seven Forums!

Hard Disk Drives and 'space' on HDDs that shows in Windows disk management will not show up in Windows 7 until a partition(s) is created and formatted, have a look at this tutorial at the link below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

You should have unplugged the other HD's during install to avoid problems.

Boot free Partition Wizard bootable CD
to see if it sees the data on the missing HD partitions, using rightclick>Explore. If not try the Partition Recovery Wizard, then if necessary the Data Recovery Wizard.

You can also plug the hD"s into another computer to see if the data is seen and retrievable.

Thanks Bare Foot Kid & gregrocker.

So far... the tutorial to create a new partition worked on both internal drives. But now Windows7 can't format one of those drives... so I need to look into this

As for the external drive, I haven't got any further on that front. It does work on my other Windows7 PC only difference is that it is 32bit

Thanks again guys
