    HD video is still unplayable, although still at a drastically higher FPS than with previous installs (using Shark007s W7 codecs)

    It could be that you need to download the Windows 7 drivers for you GFX card. The default ones with Windows 7 don't come with any sort of GFX control panel & tweaking utilities.

    I already have :P I've tried both the latest WHQL and the latest betas. Using either performance felt smoother than when I had first re-installed but in neither case is it up to par. I'm wondering if it is an issue with the chipset as ATI has yet to release a W7 version for SB750 (yes, I've tried the Vista drivers but had no speed gains)

    Bad southbride control -> slow communication between components -> everything being laggy. It would make sense. It would also explain why I get high WEI ratings, as once a component is isolated it wouldn't be stressing the southbridge any more, which is how I would guess they run the tests.
