    Installed Windows 7 and need help


    Hello...I recently installed windows 7 professional from windows XP...I noticed everything is gone and the only icon on my desktop is the garbage icon...is that correct? Dosnt windows 7 OS come with other programs such as Microsoft Office? I think I may have screwd up>

    You can buy MS office, it is not part of Windows 7.

    so, quick question.....does windows 7 come with anything? Am I going to have to buy everything such as adobe and other programs I used to have?

    Hi and welcome.

    If you search the program name in the Start/Search box and it's not there then the program is not installed.

    There are literally thousands of free programs you can install and the forum has a list of the best ones (including Adobe?);

    The programs you had install in Win XP may/mat not install in Windows 7.

    You can use free Open Office from Java which is comparable. Get Java runtime off their same website.

    Adobe Flash and Reader from the Adobe website.

    Check your optional Windows Updates for newer drivers regularly, install all Important updates automatically.

    Use a free lightweight AV like MS Security Essentials or Avast 6 with the Win7 firewall.
