Follow exactly the steps given above to reseat RAM, swap sticks and try individually to see if you can get one to run correctly, then run the Crucial System Scanner software to find out what type of memory is in your computer.

Run the memtest86 CD for 5-6 passes to confirm if any or which stick is bad.

Google the exact make and model number + Memory Upgrade, read and study the results. Check against specs for the model gotten by googling make and model + Specs, and google the serial number off the RAM.

If you have a CompUSA/Tiger Direct store, you can call or go to the counter and they will normally have it in stock for a fair price. Or use the results of your research to shop online, click Shopping at the top of the Google page where you search the make+model for Memory Upgrade.

Hi everyone
Thank you for helping me out.
I went with RAM test first, and I wasnt able to find a error.
So then I took out the hard drive and then boot my laptop with ubuntu usb.
It worked. I used another hard drive and the computer was able to boot from the another hard drive.
So ended up buying a new hard drive for $50. My computer works now.


But still when I restart my computer, after it shows me the Toshiba Logo, I hear the beep beep and it goes on for 40 seconds.
Then it finally stops. But till then my ubuntu os loads up.
I dont know why my laptop is beeping? Is it a sticky key or something.

Using a Notebook or Netbook on your lap, is the cause of overheating, which is the main reason of the problems you have now.

One long beep at startup can mean memory problems. I gave you steps before to deal with this.

What happens when you reseat the RAM sticks following the video I posted earlier?

How many passes did you run of memtest86 CD? I would run at least 5-6 passes or overnight to stress it.

Check in BIOS to see if an alarm is set for overheating. Check also the temperatures shown against the maximum heat specs for your CPU.

Install Speedfan to monitor the core temperatures. If temps are above the specs for your CPU then elevate the rear of the laptop when using to assure the intake vent is clear, clean out the dust, don't use the laptop on your lap or a bed where the vents can be blocked.

You can try blowing the dust out of the vents or use a shop vac with no metal attachments, however here is a video to show how to do it best if you are able to work with electronics:
