Windows 7: Windows 7 Installation - Computer Shuts Off During Installation

No i bought a Windows 7 disc from Newegg.com. i have the official disc. no illegal dl or torrents

Do you have a DVD drive cleaner?

no i do not. but i dont believe the DVD drive is the problem

It is looking like DVD drive is not reading the disks.

Try doing this way:

i dont have a 4 gb flash drive. i will go get one as i need one anyway though and i will post the results of trying this. thanks for the help. one more question though. if the disc drive couldnt read the disc, why would that cause the computer to turn off. i dont understand that

Much easier to install UltraISO trial version to write to flash stick: On File tab Open DVD, on Bootable Tab Write DIsk Image, Format button, Write button.

someone help. i got an 8gb USB drive but when i got to an elevated command prompt and do DISKPART, it does it just right.. but then when i type LIST DISK it only gives me disk 0 which is my hard drive. the usb drive shows up in My Computer and even gets a letter (E: ) assigned to it. but for some reason it will not show up in LIST DISK. ive searched everywhere for an answer to my problem but came up with nothing

Read my post above. You can write to the stick using an automated method in minutes.

Use UltraISO trial version as suggested, or extract the DVD's ISO with ImgBurn and load it into this writing tool with Windows 7 in dropdown menu: Universal USB Installer – Easy as 1 2 3 | USB Pen Drive Linux

well thankfully after listening to what you two have to say and messing with my computer it now shuts off about 20 seconds after turning on. doesnt even make it to the boot screen. thanks a lot...

You were not given any steps different than we give thousands of others here successfully.

There is nothing about formatting a flash stick installer that could exacerbate your computer's random shutdown problem.

Check all cable connections to your mobo and hardware especially the new HD. Try unplugging the DVD drive which Theog suspects is the problem.
